Another wonderful zoo is located in the Thoiry commune (ZooSafari de Thoiry). You need to go here by car and plan a trip for the whole day.
The park is divided into three parts - a highway, a pedestrian zone and the castle itself.
There is ample free parking near the park.
So, let's start with the most interesting thing - with a trip along the highway, where animals roam freely.
Along the route you will see horses, bears, antelopes, including Black, giraffes, hippos, rhinos. On the way back we will meet: the African plain, where zebras, antelopes and other livestock of African origin graze; elephants, camels.
Leaving your car in the parking lot, you can go to explore the second part of the pedestrian zone. If you get hungry, head to the café bistro, which is open from 12:00 to 15:00. There is a good selection of different dishes here. Self-service. Located next to the castle.
If there is enough time before the opening of the cafe, go to the center of the park, where the main exhibitions of animals and entertainment are concentrated.
You can use a special transfer - a long car in the form of a train that travels along the castle-center route and back. The shuttle can be found next to the castle.
From 12:50 pm, you can feed the red pandas.
A little further away there is an indoor pavilion with a pond where amphibians, invertebrates, and mammals live. Open from 13:30 to 17:00
Nearby there is a playground with places to rest where you can have a snack.
On both sides of the next reservoir are lemurs and macaques.
In the same area, you can visit a mini-farm, where an educational excursion is held every day from 12:15.
In the northern part there is a labyrinth, where you will need at least 45 minutes to get out of it.
In the northwestern part of the park, there is a Vivarium, where you can see monitor lizards, red kangaroos, wallabies, and cassowaries.
In the western part there is a glass tunnel for visitors, where lions often walk. Lions are fed daily at 15:00, and in July and August also at 11:30.
In the southwestern part there is a similar tunnel, but instead of lions, tigers are walking there. You can also see a lynx and a cheetah here. Feeding of the tigers starts at 16:15 pm.
In the southeastern part of the park, there are gardens that have been blooming for centuries.
And, finally, the last object of the park - Thoiry Castle invites everyone on a tour from 11:00. Here you will be greeted by guides in historical costumes to guide you through the state rooms. The walk takes 20 minutes, the booklet walk takes 25 minutes, and the guided walk takes 35 minutes.
Getting there
After leaving Paris, continue along the A13 towards the west, towards Versailles. From there take the A12 to Pontchartrain and the D11 to Thouary. You can also book a tour of the castle.
