Art Gallery Colette Colla Univer (Galerie Univer / Colette Colla) welcomes collectors, artists and lovers of contemporary art in the old working-class district of the 11th arrondissement of Paris. It is located on the rue Montreux next to the former saddlers' and upholsterers' workshops. The gallery has occupied a large and bright space in a concrete and glass building since 2006.
The Colette Colla Gallery is an open and welcoming place, where the all-pervading light envelops the visitor and favorably emphasizes all the hidden nuances of the works of art presented in it. For the owner of the gallery, neither the school of painting and sculpture, nor technique, nor theme, nor genres matter. Gallery Univer is a territory of complete freedom of self-expression in creativity.
Charm, finely constructed scenography, lively play of imagination, intellectual sophistication - these are the most important conditions and requirements that must be met by the works of contemporary art presented here.
The inner courtyard is the very place where visitors of the Univer Gallery, interested and subdued by the skill of the artist, can exchange views and make a final verdict in their judgments about the works of painting, graphics, and sculpture exhibited in the halls of the gallery.
According to Colette Coll's plan, artists, photographers and sculptors should feel as free here as at home. Some of their works remain forever on the walls and in the halls of the gallery, while others find buyers and leave this exhibition space.
Long-term fruitful relations connect the gallery not only with French masters of fine arts, but also with creative people from far and near countries. Among the artists she supports are Antonio Segui, Philippe Area, Michelle Haas, Masayoshi Yamada, Avi Trattner, Monique Tello, Mark Ronet, Marco Echevirria, Marinette Cuéco. Each of them is distinguished by the ability to create sometimes mysterious and sometimes laconic images in art.
Photographer F. Area, with his photographs of landscapes and sad landscapes, constantly strives to awaken the hidden emotional capabilities of a person and help him to look at the world in a different way. For several decades M. Cuéco has been engaged only in weaving and tapestry. Studying the interweaving of herbs in nature, she creates original patterns subject to a special rhythm and color.
J. F. Bode devoted himself to the decorative arts. His black and white monotypes on display in the gallery generate the most bizarre graphic phrases. The art of M. Haas is a reminder of the transience of life, but every image of a child, blind man or musician captured by him testifies to his irony and love for the world.
As a rule, two exhibitions are held in parallel at the Galerie Univer / Colette Colla over the course of several months. One of them consists of the works of a group of artists united by the theme, and the second is a retrospective of the work of one of the permanent partners.
