Museum Submarine B-396

Museums and Galleries

Museum object Submarine B-396 "Novosibirsk Komsomolets" is a 90-meter submarine installed on a special platform, thanks to which it was possible to raise the submarine 4 meters above the water. This allows visitors not only to observe the submarine above the waterline, but also to see the steering set of propellers with which it was steered.

History museum

The museum dates back to the 90 years, when Moscow naval veterans turned to the Moscow government with a request to create a museum complex dedicated to the fleet. Then the request was granted, but until the creation of the museum there were still many years. The diesel-electric submarine "Novosibirsk Komsomolets" of the 641B "Som" project, withdrawn from the state of the fleet in 1998 and later bought out by the authorities of the capital, was chosen as the main exhibit. In 2000, the submarine was sent to the Sevmash plant in Severomorsk for conversion, after which it remained on the slipway of the plant for several years.

Initially, it was planned that the submarine will be installed on the Kremlin embankment, then it was planned to be placed in the Gorky Park or on the Taras Shevchenko embankment. Finally, the final place was chosen for her in the Northern Tushino park in the north-west of the capital in the coastal waters of the Khimki reservoir. This decision was reinforced by Moscow Government Decree No. 969-PP from 18.11.2003. This day can be considered the date of the foundation of the museum.

However, before the final installation of the submarine, several more years passed. Only on 26 on July 2006 did the Navy Museum open, part of which was the Submarine Museum, housed in a converted submarine. Later, the museum complex was expanded at the expense of other objects of the Navy: ekranoplan "Eaglet" and the assault boat "Skat".

The rest of the museum exhibit is fully consistent with the combat submarine: all submarine compartments and torpedo tubes have been preserved, also some mines and torpedoes are placed here, naturally, already in a neutralized state.
